Kindergarten-Grade 6: Every class has general music for 40 minutes each week.
Grades 7-8: All grade 7 and 8 students participate in one of the four ensembles: Orchestra, Band, Chorus, and World Percussion. Ensembles meet twice each week for 40 minutes. Strings: Students in grades 4-6 can take string lessons with Ms. Sadler and Mr. Blickenderfer in addition to their general music classes. Band: Students in grades 4-6 can take band instrument lessons with Ms. Sears and Mr. Moyer in addition to their general music classes. |
Ms. Ward teaches elementary general music at the John F. Kennedy School in Somerville, MA, where she encourages all students to be active music makers through sequential and culturally relevant musical experiences. She has completed all three levels of Kodaly at the University of Hartford and Orff Level 1 at Boston University. Ms. Ward studied at Boston University (Masters of Music, Music Education, 2012), and Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario (Bachelor of Education, 2010, Bachelor of Music, 2009). She is a frequent presenter at conferences and teacher trainings, and she is especially interested in promoting ways to make quality music education accessible for all students.
